The Pavonine Spring 2011 Collection presentation during LA Fashion Week

Pavonine released last year and is designed by best friends, Jennie and Brie Maletz, and Jessica Solomon...btw...Jennie and Brie are twins! I am a twin myself so naturally I have to give props. Also, once I read where their label name is inspired from I was even more intrigued. The name Pavonine comes from a type of bird called the Pavonine Quetzal which is the only bird in the world that will perish if caged. Pavonine represents inner strength, refusal to conform, and beauty.

I recently discovered the blog of Scott Vener, Music Supervisor for Entourage, which is now officially my go to blog when I need new music to download. He pretty much just posts any songs/artists he's into and playlists from each Entourage episode. On the first episode of last season he included a song "Bread and Butter" by Hugo and in the same post suggested an amazing bluegrass spin of Hugo covering Jay-Z's "99 Problems".

I just picked up some new combat boots but I am in desperate need of outfits to feminize the boots. I have my eye on the leather panel leggings and silk boyfriend shirt on Revolve. My top picks for the first half of New York Fashion Week SS11. If someone is going to bring back the nineties Charlotte Ronson is the one to do so. Oh I remember the days when I wore plaid shirts tied around my waist and scrunchy socks...not in the glam-rock way Ms. Ronson portrayed but, then again I was a tween. However, it looks like the seventies takes the cake with Spring 2011 trends. Derek Lam and Adam Lippes featured high-waist trousers, Marc Jacobs with a belled sleeve coat, and Rebecca Taylor featuring denim flares with diagonal zip pockets.

I can't wait to see what the rest of NYFW has in store.

Behold Evil Twin, the sister label from the designer of Mink Pink. Evil twin in inspired by Jodie Mckenzie's (designer) personal style and view on fashion. The name says it all. This line is the grungier-punk "evil" version as opposed to Mink Pink's soft and sweet collection. I'm loving each and every piece but, my favorites are the leopard bike shorts, the leopard backed tee, and the skull kaftan (in serious need of a kaftan). We made the most of it by driving along the coast first stopping in Mill Valley for lunch. On our way back we stumbled upon the Muir Beach overlook and decided to take a few pictures. This is the perfect place to get a great few of the ocean and perhaps have a picnic.

Last night I went to happy hour with the family for "Tipsy Tuesday" at Osha in the Marina. We nibbled on a delicious array of appetizers including muscles, scallops, and mango shrimp and sipped a few "Pomtini's". After dinner the sis and I decided to stroll around Pacific Heights in this freezing cold Winter of a Summer. Only a week and a half until the Outside Lands music festival...hopefully I won't have to be wrapped in five blankets while trying to watch Kings of Leon and Phoenix.

Oh Ashley O. I just admire the way she effortlessly makes basic tees and skinny jeans look so eclectic yet chic. I think I need to venture away from my Ray Ban Wayfarer's and look into more aviator styles. I'm thinking the Ray Ban Highstreet for now, which I think she does have. Oh and the Balenciaga boots that she adores and wears all the time, the closest I can get are the new Sam Edelman Zoyla boots. I like the Zoyla better than last years Zoe, I wasn't a fan of the harness which is why I'm loving the updated version with the studs. This guitar and drum blues/rock duo consists of Dan Auerbach (vocalist/guitarist) and Patrick Carney (drummer/producer). You can call them the counterparts of the White Stripes and share the stylings of Radiohead. Even the group's songs work in funk, rock, and soul influences from the likes of Jimi Hendrix and James Brown. However, they are distinct in their own right with the recent release of their album "Brothers". Auerbach has such a smooth, mature blues voice and the only instruments they use is his guitar, Carney's drums, and the occasional organ. You'll want to download the whole album...trust me.

This past weekend I stopped by LF for their amazing sidewalk sale and let's just say I got my hands on a few goodies...perhaps many goodies. I scored myself six items for under $100 and normally you can spend that much on just one top there. One of which I was shocked to find this sweet romper still for sale. The next day I received these Miu Miu inspired Steve Madden sandals in the mail. Perfect little match. ♥

When I was in New York last August I wanted to stop by Rice to Riches to try their many flavors of rice pudding and after seeing them featured on the movie Hitch. However, we just didn't seem to have enough time in our five days to cram in a rice pudding tasting.

Then the other day it occurred to me that San Francisco must have a rice pudding shop somewhere. So I took to Yelp and found Loving Cup in Russian Hill. I ordered up a combo of coconut and English toffee rice pudding and let me tell you...delectable!

In celebration of family birthdays, we headed to Tiburon. We had dinner at a lovely restaurant called The Caprice with the most perfect view of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge. Each of us had a three-course meal of shellfish chowder, petrale sole meuniere or pork chops with butternut squash puree and gruyere potato gratin, and mango/blueberry sorbet.

One of my favorite handbag designers, Rebecca Minkoff, has designed a new high-end collection exclusively for Saks. Her 'Mac' clutches and 'Nikki' hobo run $300-$600 but, this new collection will range $550-$2,000. This ever so lovely new 'Mac' clutch is made with calfskin and real gold in the rose gold hardware. I absolutely love the taupe color of the leather and rose gold color of the chain and studs. I can't wait to see what Ms. Minkoff has in store for the rest of the collection ♥

My friend Alex has recently introduced me to yet another music portal that dare I say is a little better than Pandora. TheSixtyOne, started in 2008, streams music uploaded by up and coming artists who can sell (or provide free downloads) songs and merchandise directly to their fans. The site is named after Highway 61, a route with deep connections to American music culture. Listeners can "heart" songs they like and filter the playlist by selecting moods like "mellow", "party", "rocky", and "trippy". As the song is playing little windows will pop up providing the artists' bio and upcoming tour shows. I am hooked.

On Easter Sunday I went to the MOMA in San Francisco with my family. The Dior heel in this enamel-on-aluminum painting immediately caught my attention out of all the other paintings and photos in the room...of course. The artist of this painting is Marilyn Minter from NYC. She started out shooting stills of models' tongues swirling and sucking cake decorations and candy from under a pane of glass. She had also teamed up with Madonna and her Sticky & Sweet tour for Madonna to perform her opening number "Candy Shop" under a multi-screen installation of Minter's popular "Green Pink Caviar". You can see some of Marilyn Minter's selected works at Salon 94.

My sister and I decided to head to Santa Cruz and Capitola today to soak up some sun and of course...a little shopping. First we had hit up the Farmers Market to pick up some Asian pears and chicken naan wraps for lunch and let me tell you, yummy yummy yummy! Then we headed to Downtown Capitola to check out the local boutiques, our favorite called Dietle James. After a little retail therapy we grabbed some fro yo and took a stroll on the beach. Then we decided to head to Downtown Santa Cruz to cruise the shops over there but we made a pit stop on the way. We discovered a quaint side road antique shop called Clearwater Bazaar that we fell in love with! All in all we had a lovely day along the beach ♥

The Dirty Heads are a Reggae/Rock group from Huntington Beach, CA and released their debut album in 2008. My sister first heard their recent hit single "Lay Me Down" ft. Rome Ramirez on the radio and of course told me to download their album Any Port in Storm. We can't get enough of this band which has the same vibe as Sublime and 311 (which they have previously toured with). Even better, they are on tour right now and will be playing in the Bay Area at the Voodoo Lounge next Tuesday! I can't wait to see them live!

I am officially ready for summer after seeing this Summer 2010 collection by Mink Pink! I first discovered this brand when I spotted one of their floral dresses flipping through the March 2009 issue of the Cosmo...I ended up hunting down the dress from an Australian online retailer for my graduation ceremony :)

MINKPINK is a fashion label that began in 2005 in Sydney Australia. They design fashion forward, vintage, and street style pieces at affordable prices. Recently, the brand has hit the American fashion scene branching out with Macys, Urban Outfitters, and Aritzia. This twenty five year old Soul-Pop-Rock singer/songwriter is from South Korea and has been featured on the Rachel Ray Show and Good Morning America.
